History
It dates back to roughly the mid-1980s, when members Veteran of the Brno Automobile Club decided to organize a meeting of veterans at the START athletic stadium in the Lesná district of Brno for the purpose of exchanging, selling and buying parts, components and documentation. At that time, only a few enthusiasts gathered at the stadium.
Meantime
In the following years, the number of people interested in the event began to increase. In the mid-nineties, there were already hundreds of them. The stadium was no longer large enough and the entire event was moved to the sports airport in Brno Slatina. The number of participants continued to increase. It was decided to hold the event, which began to reach mega proportions, on one of the landing areas of the Brno civil airport in Brno Tuřany. The event was held there in April 2003. During this period, the number of participants, both sellers and buyers, has been constantly increasing. Several years of effort to establish contact with the Brno Exhibition Centre culminated in the spring of 2002. Thanks to the fact that among the organizers of the Autosalon and Autotec fairs there were people who understood our intention, but also that this event would help to expand the events held on the Brno Exhibition Centre and thus to further increase its visibility.
Present
MotorTechna has been taking place on the BVV area since October 2003. The attendance of the event has a constantly increasing tendency, approximately 430 sellers and 3400 people interested in buying or viewing. There are usually 60 cars and 40 motorcycles on display at the exhibition. The range is expanded to include offers in various collector's fields. There is also a presentation of restoration companies and companies producing spare parts and various accessories for vintage cars, including period clothing. The event is organized by 4 people in the preparatory period, and there are 45 organizers during the event itself. Sellers have the opportunity to pre-order a sales area and possibly block the same area for the next event. They have the option of arriving in the afternoon before the event. This practice is quite common at all similar events abroad. With the increasing number of participants, the number of foreign participants who already regularly visit MotorTechna is also growing. (Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Lithuania, Italy). There are also visitors from the Netherlands, France and Norway.
Future
Thanks to the possibilities offered by the Brno Exhibition Centre, a further increase in the number of interested parties, both domestic and foreign, can be expected. The organisers are interested in constantly improving the conditions, both in terms of organisation and space. The only currently completely unsolvable problem lies in the impossibility of securing a fixed date and space for holding the event. In this respect, the organisers must fully adapt to the BVV.
